How it worksStep 10 of 13

Produce the documents you have to file

Whose job: the city manager. You should see a booklet, stamped with the data and configuration it was made from.

What you are doing

You are producing the documents the council actually has to file: a committee paper, a brief for a general manager, a grant submission, a valuation or a state return.

This is where the work stops being internal. Somebody outside the council reads these, and the person who signs them is usually not the person who made them — which is why every figure in them carries where it came from.

What PaveKeep does with it

A booklet, and when rendered, a document with its bytes kept.

Each one is stamped with what produced it: the data as it stood, the configuration in force, and the version of the calculation. That stamp is the difference between a document you can defend a year later and a PDF you cannot account for.

What it will not do

How you know it worked

Before: a network with a survey, and a programme.

Do: Booklet, choose a template, render it.

After: a PDF, and a record of the render carrying the data and configuration it was made from.

If it was wrong, delete the render and produce it again. The booklet is a definition and the render is an artefact; deleting the artefact loses nothing but the file.

Hand to: whoever signs it. Tell them the surveyed share, because they are the one who will be asked.

If it went in wrong: this step can be undone, and the undoing stays on the record rather than erasing what happened.
